"Highlight of the rally: The Forties Night with the Melvin Beddow Big Band. They were absolutely amazing! Dressed in GI style uniform they played Glen Miller - Chattanooga Choochoo, In the Mood, Pennsylvania 65000 and many others, some that we did not know, and many that we had heard before. Two singers, a man and a woman, sang solos. I cannot remember them all but they were exceptionally good. It was absolutely wonderful. We felt privileged to hear them perform. A great night!"

"[The Concert Secretary] invited us to watch the band play at one of their events and even came to our venue before the wedding to check out the accessibility and space. All this helped to ensure the smooth running of the day.

The setup team were seamless and accommodating, I barely noticed them next door whilst they were doing their sound checks and they setup all the equipment before the ceremony started.

I had my heart set on a 1940’s big band and Anton also wanted some other genres of music in the mix. John (Concert Secretary)sent us a play list which had 1940’s for the first set and 1960’s rock and roll for the second set. I imagine we could have changed bits around and taken some songs out but we thought it was perfect as it was.

Pre-wedding nerves made me slightly anxious about big band music appealing to all age groups, but I needn’t have worried as I have never seen so many people on the dance floor. The band were never playing to themselves and at some points 90% of the guests were dancing. The highlight for me has to be that Anton’s grandparents danced for the first time in 50 years.

I still can’t believe we got such good value for so many excellent musicians and singers to play at our wedding. I was getting down heartened when we received quotes from other bands and at this point almost never made the phone call to John as I never imagined we could have afforded a big band. I will be forever grateful to John and the Melvin Beddow Big Band for giving up their time each week to put together such a finely tuned and professional sounding performance. This together with the passion and dedication each band member shows for the music, made our wedding, a day we will never forget."
